Wow smokes most of my reissues from this time period. This is truly an amazing album that isn't as talked about as Floyd and the rest of the similar sounding English stuff from this time period. Highly recommend.
-
This is quite a brittle sounding record. Maybe a bit too dynamic for its own good, too, with some tracks being notably louder than others than being too much in certain sections of the same song. When you want to lose yourself in the psychedelia, you don't really want to have to worry about keeping your fingers on the volume knob. It does sound decent enough for what it is - a quintessentially '60s sounding rock recording and mix. The version on streaming has more width but not as much dimension. This sounds more detailed and realistic, but that could very well just be the difference in setup as my turntable and phono amp is much better than my digital, despite the same headphone amp and headphones.
There are some sibilance issues here and there, especially on the final track which has it really bad. There's also very little in the way of bass and drums tend o get lost in the mix, but I imagine that's less of an issue with mastering than recording/mixing. -

Just like Pepper and Piper this album shines in MONO ! ( all of them recorded at Abbey Road )
The stereo suffers from ridiculous sloppy panning, The mono sounds like the final product.
I can't say it's the best album I have in my collection as w4toosh below, but this pressing has really punchy and widespread sound, instruments very well recorded and vocals are fun to listen with all the psych effects and overdubs. Sitar on Bracelets of FIngers is unreal, present like it's played in your room. Baron Saturday's piano sounds so crazy and massive! Love it.
I See You stads out too, what a songwriting and wonderful music. Overall this album is a gem. It's very sad that Who's Tommy took away all the attention and the band's potential worldwide fame.

Excellent sound on this pressing, Has a wider stereo separation than the US version, which gives the music a richer sound. Esdel records did an amazing job on this one. If you're looking for a replacement copy, this would be the one to get. -

Abbey Road product from the golden years, to store between Sgt Pepper and Piper at the gates of Dawn.
A masterpiece, A must-have!!! -

Fabulous pressing. Clear, lively and rich and cut quite hot, the music really leaps of the wax -
Sounds fantastic, haven’t heard the UK but this one is great. Fair amount of surface noise in the quieter parts, but overall this is worth the price for sure.
-
Mine was quite warped, but it didn't impact play at all. The bass is practically nonexistent here, you definitely need to crank up your sub. Otherwise, good press.
