How can I differentiate this version of the second odeon press (74) without the obi?
At the moment I can't see the matrix.

I recently let my mofi of this album go but I got this version first and compared a first UK, Mofi and this. The mofi sounded great but lacked an ethereal quality the original pressing of this has. I’ll say this sincerely, this Japanese pressing is absolutely fantastic! And it’s easier to find a NM copy of this than an original UK or U.S. pressing. I’m continually reminded of just how incredible Japanese pressings are and some of my favorite albums have been replaced by superior Japanese pressings.
This is the version to have! -
Received my copy today and am, as I type, towards the end of side two.
I can only repeat what others have said about this…an astounding pressing. Sonically more or less perfect. I’ve owned this album since my early teens…I shouldn't be hearing detail I’ve never before heard, but I am.
Truly wondrous. -
Edited 11 months agoWonderful sounding record. This is why vinyl becomes an obsession. I have no other versions of Meddle to compare, but this is a top-5 sounding record in my collection. Clean, crisp, dynamic and simply beautiful. So glad I paid a little extra for this Japanese pressing.

This is the ultimate version of meddle. The base, the top end, the midrange, dead quiet vinyl, it has everything! Plus the cover with the OB strip - awesome! Usually the UK US or German first pressings better the Japanese first pressings but in this case, this version is stunning!

Edited one year agothis is end-game with Meddle.... both me and my father have this version on LP, we both bought it heavily used (a lot of micro scratches on the surface), I additionally played it like 15x times at least, my father listens to that regularly... both of those two still playes dead silent, at least NM and the lacquer cut is top-notch - everything sounds so natural. Grundman remaster is quite good, but in some frequencies it's not natural. Meddle original production was so good that I can say it didnt need remaster. And just... lacquer cut of this one was perfect.

This is a superb pressing. Clarity is incredible. Roger Waters bass shines through, especially on Echoes. The splash from Mr Mason is also on another level.
Just sounds brilliant.
The best I have heard. -
I have 3 copies of this version. The first one I bought back in the late 90's when I went to Japan to buy Led Zeppelin Bootlegs. I was getting ready to leave for the airport and I was kicking myself for not buying some Pink Floyd records I saw at a shop not too far away. Well, I quickly went there and bought Meddle, Ummagumma and Atom Heart Mother.
They all sound so great. Usually Japanese records can be a bit thin in the bass but I find they do make great classic period Jazz reissues and seemingly Pink Floyd pressing too. -
I have other pressings, but this one is definitely the best, with detailed sound and depth in a silent vinyl. Listening to Echoes is even more a magical journey

Not all Japanese pressings sound this good! Great bass and depth to the sound, completely smokes the 2016 reissue and is my go to copy above my UK orig.
