Edited one year agoHoly hell. I was not expecting this press to sound quite this good. For an album that wasn't exactly fantastically recorded, this is exceptional. This is the keeper copy for me.

Edited one year agoThe sound is as good as it can be. The initial record apparently isn’t perfect at all. Instruments blend together on difficult loud parts. But this version pulls all that is possible from this out.
I’ve heard several UK OG needle drops, and they certainly sounds even worse to my ears - along with problems in instruments separation there is less top end.
Japanese pressings keep making me happy over and over again. -
Not sure if it's just my copy, but this pressing sounds very harsh -- far too much mid and high end and barely any low end. However, I did manage to fix it with some EQ,

It's ok with classical music and jazz, fusion jazz too, but with rock and pop the strong dynamics at high frequencies sound exaggerated and shrill. In return, there is a lack of dynamics in the middle, oh dear. The Italian pressing from 1975 is much better.
-
One of the best sounding versions of "A Night At The Opera" I heard, including LP, CD and DVD versions.
-
Apart from the (missing on mine) obi, anyone know how to distinguish this 1975 from the 1982 reissue with same catalog number and insert?
-
Compared to my 1975 US pressings this copy has superior detail and overall sound. It blew me away the first time I listened to it.
-
My copy is quiet, crisp and dynamic top-end and mid-ranges. My only complaint with this pressing is that it lacks bottom-end.
