Edited 2 months agoI have compared an RL pressing and this Japanese pressing. It competes very well with it. The RL has just a slight advantage with detail but the 1st Japan pressing is a contender. It explodes out of the speakers. The RL had a lot of surface noise and the Japanese did not. I’m happy with this version. If you can get a clean version of the 1st pressing it’s a keeper in every way. Deep bass, cymbals shimmer, I can hear Page’s pick hitting the guitar strings, so much detail on this one! And it’s loud like the RL!

Edited 5 months agoI’m not sure why the ratings are so good. This pressing is absolute disappointment. Doesn’t even come close to an RL. A GP cut sounds better than this too.

I haven’t heard the famed RL pressing but struggle to imagine how it could sound better than this. Massive sound stage with a thunderous, driving bottom end. I’d read this was the pressing to track down in lieu of the prohibitively expensive RL and I am definitely not disappointed.

The mastering for this japan 1st press is top notch . Balanced sound with a slight emphasize on the lows for that punchy bass . Led zeppelin 2 is one of my favorite . Got this without the OBI but no regret as the sound and the quality of gatefold . recommended .

This pressing is a joy. The jacket is super tough, ages well. One of my favourite label designs of all time as well. This is all dwarfed in comparison to the sound. I can’t imagine how much better an RL could sound than this issue. Japan knows best.

This pressing sounds really good. A lot of low end and really full. Just great. Got it at a great price from a local shop and good guy. I've heard it compares well against the sought after 'hot press.' I haven't heard it myself so I can't say for sure.
