My record sounded really bad out of the box (sealed). After two rounds of cleaning and antistatic treatment side A sounds great but side B is still bad, especially the first and last track. In the first (quieter) part of "Time", the surface noise is almost as loud as the music.

Edited 2 years agoWhy would someone pay $200 for this? This is a great album however I just cant see why they are posted on eBay for $450 (2015 copy) and then some sold for stupid high prices here.

I bought this today (brand new). It looks pretty good, but.... There are surface noise on first tracks and last tracks both of A and B sides. What a terrible. What happened this vinyl????

Edited 6 months agoJust got a stray copy of this (brand new).... man, is it a crappy pressing. Really bad noise all over the place. I would say it's the worst in my collection, but I also picked up the deluxe version of Interstellar which was released in late 2020 and somehow that sounds even worse... What is it with Hans Zimmer and bad pressings? His music deserves so much better. Super disappointed.

Edited 6 months agoIt appears copies of this are available again at some retailers. I managed to get a copy from Tower Records at below RRP.
Indeed copies are appearing on ebay and other online stores at a reasonable price now, massive reduction on discogs sales from £118 to as low as £13 now... Wow.
Upon inspection there is nothing distinguishing the copies available now from the 2015 repress. And prices are falling. -
Beautiful looking clear disc but Spartan packaging.
There is surface noise throughout as the others noted. Probably best to play on speakers versus headphones where the clicks are magnified during quiet sections.
Are the market prices worth it? To know this soundtrack is to love it as there is nothing quite like it. But the inherent faults of the pressing make it a difficult pill to swallow. But oh to hear that glorious theme blasting through the speakers with the warmth of vinyl! -
Edited 6 months agoAs others have said, the pressing quality is not great. That being said, it’s not unplayable.
If you’re not a hardcore audiophile and don’t mind a bit of surface noise, it’s worth getting in my opinion, but only if the price is right. I really love how all the tracks are mixed and seem to play as one continuous piece.
As sub par as the sound quality is for a Hans Zimmer album, it is among the top favorite records in my collection.
All in all, if you find it at a decent price and don’t mind the quality, it’s worth it in my opinion.
