One of my best sounding vinyl ever. Carlos D's bass are clear and deep, properly mixed as it deserves

This album is never going to sound like a 70s Japanese pressing, it’s just not possible.
With that said, this is the best version of this album by a considerable distance. The 2xLP alone allows for a lot more breathing space and sound stage. I wish I had been able to listen to this album like this for the last 22 years, but new beginnings, new life breathed into it. This will be how I hear this album for the rest of my life. -
Shockingly good. Sounds so dynamic. Obviously it was a great decision to issue a double lp version with great mastering.
-
out of the availible options, this is the best one to get. sounds super dynamic and is on the proper amount of 2 discs instead of crammed onto one.

As a fan of Interpol and a huge fan of this album with multiple copies - this is the only one I will be listening to in the future. Beautifully mastered. So dynamic. Almost felt like the first time. Love all the extras that come with VMP releases too. Grab it!!!

I don't have any other versions but this sounds great to me! Master is great, lot of room and space within the instruments, dead silent overall although my copy has some pops during Say Hello To The Angels and The New, nothing worrying. As someone said, if you expect a perfect and crystal clear sound well, simply go buy a CD!

Fantastic work from Bazza once again! Best this has sounded on vinyl by a long shot. Cut nice and loud across 4 sides. Explodes out of the speakers. My copy is very quiet, and reasonably flat and channel-balanced - one of the best GZ presses I've purchased in quite a while.
Sadly lost an OG in a storage unit flood, but this one more than makes up for it! I also own the deluxe bookback edition from a while back, but I don't it sounding good at all. Will have to revisit. -
This is the one to get.
Recently bought the very popular 2007 180g and was left pretty disappointed in comparison to this pressing. Also this one is still widely available on VMP so you won't have to pay a small fortune to get a decent pressing of this album. -
Sadly I can't help but wonder if this album was a Pro-Tools recording from the origin... I have a 2002 original, and it has always left me underwhelmed with its sound. So I decided to pick this 2xLP 'remastered' version up. I listened to it yesterday, and I'm still wanting more. Don't get me wrong, the album all around is a masterpiece and has a special place in my heart... but the only thing I can find about the remastering process is the notes on the VMP page that state: "on 2LP for the very first time, with lacquers cut by Barry Grint of Alchemy Mastering at AIR"... that doesn't say much, especially considering whenever VMP has the chance to describe the process, they might use the wording "AAA lacquers cut from tapes by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound"... or maybe just mention 'remastered from source materials'... so without this wording, and the lack of 'wow' on even this 2xLP, I have to wonder if this is just another pro-tools file cut over 2 LP's with a tweak here and there of some levels that make a slightly different sound than other versions... any thoughts? (I also called this out on the VMP reissue of 'Is This It' ... the early 2000's were certainly the darkest days for analog recordings!!!)
