The Doors – The Soft Parade

Does anyone know the year of release for this CD?

Like my other Doors lp’s, my copy was bought new, by me upon release. Still sounds great, and brings back memories from long ago…

I was about to pull the trigger on the new Rhino HiFi pressing of this album but thought I would first just give this non-descript 80s German repress that I picked up a few years back one more listen ...and I am glad I did! This pressing sounds fantastic! Punchy, superb clarity - everything in its right place. Plus I saved myself $100 in not getting the Rhino which I can now spend on something else - winning!

This is an amazing sounding US repress. The sound is fresh, airy and beautifuly warm and crispy.

Blown away. This RL cut sounds fantastic, nice and loud with a large sound stage. I don't know if I would call this best kept secret, but I never hear anybody talk about this. I'm going to keep this VG+ copy and sell my NM first pressing, that's how good it is! On second thought, I'll keep them both and just play this one.

This is an excellent pressing. Since the first notes you can realize what’s coming. Mids and His very well balanced. The LOs sound awesome. Very nice sound stage, separation and details. There’s some sound distortion at the very end of both sides but it’s pretty much acceptable. My baseline is the AP 45 RPM. The Canadian pressing doesn’t sound superior to the 45, but different in a good way. I enjoyed it very much and I will keep it together the 45 on the collection.

The drums sound very nice on this on. So does jims voice.
Not sure if this is the best version but for me this is the best Ive heard. My go to version dont need another

I read somewhere that this was the last tan-label Elektra release. Seems red-label copies were released simultaneously and despite the tan-label copies being pricier and considered to be harder to come by it’s eye opening that 9.3k people claim to have this on Discogs. That’s higher than the reported totals for all the original red label pressings combined.

Has anyone compared this to the gold label 1st press?
