Liner notes:
'As knowledge and experience of musical forms increase attention will direct itself more and more at 'real' musical issues rather than 'fashionable' ones. At the time of writing the situation has already arisen, as witnessed by the popular acclaim deservedly showered upon such groups as Blood, Sweat & Tears. Johnny McLaughlin, hailed by many critics as a face to watch in '69 has made this LP with John Surman, Tony Oxley and Brian Odges, three of the best young British Jazz musicians of today. It is a mere formality that talents such as these will be at the forefront of another challenging period of musical taste evolution.'

A great jazz-fusion record that has some variety of textures. McLaughlin and crew play great! I had the CD version for years and is a bit lackluster compared to this pressing, which is incredibly rich and detailed. Definitely an underrated audiophile gem!

Edited one year agoFantastic album. Maybe a precursor to fusion. John Surman doing amazing stuff in . A bargain bin heater.
