I like the sound on this 1973 Winchester pressing, punchy and crisp, there's a real bite to the guitars and a kick to the drums, with plenty of oomph. My copy has a skip near the beginning of "Picasso's Last Words", otherwise it plays nice and clean, with occasional faint surface noise. -
FYI - My copy I bought new in either January or October 1974 (I wrote both dates on my cover, I was 14) has Matrix / Runout (Runout A SO-1-3415-F27 * . It DOES NOT have [MASTERED BY CAPITOL stamped] on the A side. It DOES NOT have Wly. Matrix / Runout (Runout B etched [MASTERED BY CAPITOL stamped] variant 10). 2-3415-F14 • Wly. Neither side has ─◁ that I can see. B side DOES NOT have the SO- before the 2-3415-F14 • On B side the Wly is right before (or just to the left) the 2-3415-F14 • From what I can gather I have a variant 10 pressing. It does not have the symbol ─◁ so does that mean it is not a Winchester pressing ??? I have rarely found exact matches to many of my albums on here. Is all of this info entered by hand by someone ? If so then how reliable is it ? Please comment if you have any good info to help me understand the mystery that is the matrix runout info. :-) Thanks.
