One thing that I always found a little bit odd was on the poster, they blacked out two words after the poster was printed. You can see it clearly on the back. Originally the poster was going to say "The Elton John Band", but they blacked out the words "The" and "Band". Maybe it is the match the front cover, but seems like a lot of effort for something that no one would care about.

This is an incredibly present record full of detail with a deep sound stage. Unfortunately, my copy has some pretty extreme inner groove distortion, which is a drag since it affects "Someone Saved My Life Tonight," which is one of Elton's very best. As a whole, I'd say this is his second best LP after the similarly conceptual 'Tumbleweed Connection'.

My second copy here is much cleaner than the first one I got, and sound is top notch! Most dynamic and best of the classic EJ records, barring Tumbleweed Connection, which is a necessity. This OG pressing is excellent, and if it still has the extra goodies, a nice package, available pretty reasonably.

This Gloversville pressing of "Captain Fantastic" is the one you want, and about as good as it gets for Elton John's MCA pressings.

Sound quality is really great. Unfortunately every single 70’s MCA Elton record has the noisiest vinyl. My copy is almost flawless and plays like a VG record.

FIVE STARS for this album. I was just getting into Elton in about 1974 at age 14 as my old friend returned from living elsewhere (dad in the military) and he turned me on to Elton. So I bought his Greatest Hits album that was just released. I fell for him big time and I wanted more. Well come 1975 and there it is a bread new album, Capt. Fantastic... and just the cover artwork alone sold me so I bought it right away. OMG I was totally blown away by these songs and I played the album over and over for weeks. Then I was on a quest to get his other albums. But this one was the one that drew me in hook, line and sinker. Great record and all the bonus stuff really made it worth the price.

My most played record in my almost 2000 title collection. Bought this as a 15 year old pimple faced odd ball and have loved it ever since. Still have poster and all booklets. For an MCA, still sounds great.

One of the greatest albums ever made. And Elton's finest alongside Goodbye Yellowbrick Road.Though I prefer his debut the best.
