DEFINITIVE. I just bought sealed copies of Funkadelic’s first three albums - all three are these 1989 pressings with blank barcodes on back cover and DMC (direct mastering) in dead wax. I’m utterly blown away by sound quality. I also own clean original copies of each, but have been looking for years for high quality reissues for daily use. It seems that every reissue of these albums pressed in the last 30 years is garbage. There must be something wrong with the masters because everything that comes out is substandard.
These 1989 blank bar code DMC pressings are just as good as my original pressings. The sound is perhaps a touch less three dimensional but still quite dynamic - clearer and punchier.
If you come across a blank barcode with DMC in dead wax - buy with total confidence - the best Funkadelic reissue pressings you will ever find.

What's the story on this edition? The Bar code is missing. Only a white box where it should be. is this unofficial or some promo version of the 1989 version? -
My copy sounds fantastic! I need to compare it to the original I have but I picked up this version for cheap and I'm not disappointed at all. -
I bought my copy used late '90 / early '91. I assume the LP which is as described here was one of the 1989 re-issues.
