Edited one year agoConsensus seems to be that this compilation sounds compressed. After comparing it to the original US pressing of the 12" single for Blue Monday, I can hear the slight lack of depth and substance to the bass. Even still, this is one of the best ways to get all the goodies in one place. Much easier than chasing down all the singles, unless your budget allows.

Love the record, and I have a VG+~NM OG U.S copy but there’s a skip between the tracks: blue monday and confusion. There’s really no damage done to the record but this skip is annoying since I have to get up and manually go to the next song. Anyone else experience this? or am I just unlucky?

Excellent compilation if you prefer the longer 12" mixes of these tracks, and still unavailable on streaming at the time of writing. Pressing is good, with low noise, but somewhat compressed. That level of compression was common for late-80's masters, though.

While the content on this album is amazing, the mixing and mastering could have been done differently. When I listen to the singles of the same songs, it's clear that these versions lare lacking in dynamic range and raw energy...too much compression. I'm very curious to hear the unofficial splatter pattern 2016 release to see which originals they used and if they compare more closely to the singles released. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great album that's worth having.

This is such a good double LP. One thing that stands out in this album is Blue Monday, I all the lowered disco mini trucks in L.A. playing that tune all the time. It sounded really cool to hear it increase in volume then fade away when the cha cha's would . I mean totally, every disco dude played this about 3 months straight.
Another thing about this album is that you can't go wrong with it everybody has a thing for this album.Get Substance.
