After some doubts i had to buy it. I never liked the sound of the original CD i have and the streaming versions. The remastered version I streamed was slightly better, but now i FINALLY own a version of this album that sounds quite acceptable, in a way that i now enjoy the album as it should. Previously i barely could and would listen to this.
It will never be the best sounding album i heard in my life, but it's The Cure. The productions and older masterings are always a bit weird or bad.
Soundwise, i like this enough! WAY better than the original CD. Now this has a bit of dynamics for a change instead of a harsh wall of sound. I can actually hear whats going on now, including some Simon Bass for gods' sake.
Plastic wise, its made very well, silent, centred and all that stuff.
If only it had a gatefold packaging yes, that would be nice for the price.
I can recommend, if you theoretically like the album but have the same issues as I did.

Jesus christ, this line is for your review of the album and pressing, not for a review of your setup. Stop writing your equipment, no one cares

Arrived dirty, but I wet clean everything anyway. Sound is good, no distortion or clicks. Not a single pop, which is unusual these days. Can't fault it. Pleasure to listen to and side 4 is genius. 3 perfect tracks which sound great with the volume cranked up. Almost (but not quite) as good as Disintegration.....

My pressing of Wish is silent and I have no issues with the pressing as other people have had. If it is a bad pressing, send it back.

Also, I do not think this was done at 1/2 speed. Wouldn't Miles have noted that in the deadwax?

I have my original UK version from 1992, bought at the time and it sounds much better than this new version.

Amazing album with an average quality pressing. By the way “german pressing” is better. Choose that one

I think it sounds great on my Rega Planar 3 w/ Elys 2 cartridge, and I usually hate these Miles Showell 1/2 speed cuts because they're almost always plagued with distortion and sibilance. This one is an exception. Maybe I'm naive not ever hearing an original, but I'm glad to own it. Only thing marring it is the paper inner sleeves which cause lead-in surface noise and visible scuffing all over the LPs.

Can’t comment on the master as its the worst pressing I have had on the table. Pretty much unplayable in parts.

I own every Cure release on vinyl (all first prints) and have been waiting for a remixing work on Wish for many years as I always felt the original mix was pretty dull (I've owned the original CD since 1992). Having it on vinyl was a must and I've been trying to figure out which of the 3 recent releases would sound best. Eventually I came across a copy of this print in mint condition so there I went. I consider my system "advanced" and such that reflects the quality of mixes/masters very well (Tannoy SRM12X, Quad 606/909/Bryston 3B, Peter Daniels DAC, ive preamp). I'm using a Shure IV cart on my HK T60 turntable and AT30E on my PL510. As expected, I find this print to be not as great as the original one. As with many recent recordings and remasters, the sound is too compressed to my ears, and maximized in a way that might make it a little disturbing to listen to. Still I wouldn't say it sounds "bad", I've come across recent prints that do, so I'd say it sounds "ok", i.e not especially good but not especially bad either. I still enjoy listening to the original CD at least as much as listening to this version. Even though the original mix is lacking some air and details, I do find it sounding warmer and working better with the music on this album than the recent remaster. So my advice to you is - get this vinyl only if you're a big Cure fan (like me) and would want a vinyl "Wish" in your collection, not if you're expecting any "improved" version of this album. I do "Wish" they remix this album from scratch at some point, as I think there's still room for improvement at the mix level.
