Edited one year agopeople here have been mentioning about this having a new remaster, as far as i’m aware the 2 main albums aren’t remastered at all for this set?? mastering credits are the same from the original cds and wikipedia mentions it was NOT remastered specifically

It's very annoying that the track titles for the bonus disc are only printed on the face of the disc. I had to write them out on a piece of paper and slip it into the sleeve so that I would know which track was which since I can't see the disc when it's in the CD player.
-
Be careful with this set. I tried two copies and both had pieces of plastic shards or dried glue inside that scratched up the discs. I agree the total package is a little disappointing. If I still had my original Kid A and Amnesiac CDs I probably would have skipped this set.

Edited 3 years agoAs much as the Parlophone releases in small box sets of 2 CDs and 1 DVD were lovely, this is such an underwhelming and cheaply made re-release it's really a shame to those releases.
"Kid A" and "Amnesiac" had wonderful b-sides and outtakes, and a huge artwork linked to the music (they are even making a multimedia event to present the visuals!)... but not here.
The CDs are packed like one of those handmade compilations your friend was making for you when he had 10 minutes more - you have literally a 4 pages booklet, two images from "Kid A" and two for "Amnesiac" - including the front cover.
Horrible. The extras are mostly a lame mish-mash of alternative mixes aside from the wonderful "If You Say The Word" and they add really nothing to what the exceptional b-sides presented in the other Parlophone releases. The remastering was not THAT necessary and adds nothing new if not some excessive polished sound of already well-clean productions.
A really cheap and dreadful presentation of what were two of my favourite albums. -
I am missing the Amnesiac CD and no federal warning on public broadcasting anywhere. I think the two CDs were made in Mexico. 🤦♂️

Perhaps the only Radiohead release that I feel is a bit underwhelming, unnecessary, and does some disservice to the original recordings. Maybe it's just my intense personal familiarity with the original Amnesiac, but the clarity of the new master has the same kind of "uncanny valley" effect as HD TVs had back in 2008. It's distracting and sterile, almost the polar opposite effect of what I look for in these albums. Listening to Kid A had me wondering if I had even heard this album before, but not in a "rediscovering something amazing" kind of way. It just sounds like a stranger dressed up as an old friend. I am not one to complain about remasters, I guess I just didn't expect Radiohead to surgically remove the spirit from a couple of their greatest albums...
