This is a tremdeous album, just fantastic from start to finish.Bought this album cheaply at a record store opening in my hometown and I thought you can actually make music like this fresh, new sounds, new looks I could go on.Been listening to Deep purple dr.feelgood and other similar bands but this was just so different to the norm(tired old men making a last stand).I will cherish this album as well as the first lp to end of my days,oh happy days!!!!!

uninspired, decent at what it’s trying to be but uninspired.

I’m in the minority here I think - but for me this is the weakest of the four MOFI Cars releases. Not horrid by any means, just not as immediate in my listening pleasure response. It does shine though on some sections of the album. Needs some volume for sure…definitely a lower sound recording. I should add it’s also my least favourite of their albums so that may colour my judgement.
I played MOFI Shake It Up after this (bought them together) & loved that a lot more in regards to sound quality. But I also prefer the music on that album …so bias for sure haha.
Glad I got it to complete the set though…shame MOFI only did the 4 albums.

I acquired a new/sealed copy of this pressing, still in the shrink wrap. This issue has neither the "The Cars Candy-O" hype sticker on the vinyl nor is it printed on the front jacket. "The Cars Candy-O" appears only on the jacket spine. My copy has a "Record Bar $3.99 RB 4" sticker on the shrink, top right. The "Record Bar" is a now-defunct chain retailer that operated from the 1960s until the late 1980s. The $3.99 Record Bar price sticker is consistent with new LP prices in 1979 - by the early 1980s, new LP prices rose to around $5.

This pressing pretty clearly appears to have been pressed at the same time as this 1979 pressing - https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/release/16162816-The-Cars-Candy-O - as the unique labels are identical, with a slightly different dead wax matrix. This pressing is one of a few 1979 Candy-O issues pressed with a red/black Elecktra label, not the more common all-red Candy-O label. Sides 1 & 2 both have a "Sterling" stamper in the dead wax. Discogs should sync these two releases, as it does appear they were pressed and released in tandem in 1979.

The only odd feature about this pressing is the matte paper inner sleeve with an "Elektra" red/black/white company inner, the design of which mimics the red/black/white record label. The inner is not the glossy paper inner with the band photo/track list/lyrics as shown with most pressings here.

The sound on this pressing is fantastic, super quiet vinyl, no clicks, pops or static - a very enjoyable listen with crisp, clear, engaging sound. Don't hesitate if you find an inexpensive copy of this pressing.

I've got a white label of this, nothing written on the label, in a generic sleeve with the Cat No and "CARS" written on the sleeve. Run out reads "K52148" "EG" "G-TLP" and "STRAWBERRY". Struggling to find it anywhere...

I wrote a comment about this album (which is one of my favourites) but it seems to have disappeared, which is weird. No matter, I will write it again: As I mentioned, this album really is one of my favourites. It contains some of The Cars finest material. It is a treasured album for me, especially as I love the drawing of the sexy lady on the front. She really is gorgeous, my kind of lady!! So imagine my dismay when I came home from fetching the fish n chips one lunchtime a few saturdays ago, only to find that my mam’s hunky toyboy Gavin had given it to his 5-year old son (from another relationship) “Tristan” to colour in. There was pink crayon scribbled all over the car and consequently, all over the lady. I was furious but I couldn’t say anything as Gavin can turn quite nasty when provoked and he might have beasted me!! So if anyone has a spare sleeve (without the record, my record is ok thankfully) please Let me know.

Anyone know anything about why the text on the cover is a sticker?
