Operating from 1972 to 2007, the studio was founded and run by the Robb brothers: MGM Recording Studios at 751 North Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles, and renamed them as Cherokee Studios.
At the peak of its success, Cherokee housed five studios at the Fairfax location, and an additional three studios across town on Beverly Drive in Los Angeles.
