Absolute perfection. Everything from the sleeve art work to the properly epic finale with properly bonkers title. Remixes a gusto. More was still to come. Bloody brilliant

I got my version for €59; also inner sleeve residu on my copy. Seen it since for €99 and even €137; which is just crazy cash in pricing.
Also can confirm the typos on disc1: "fluffy white clouds" instead of "little fluffy clouds" and "Gala" instead "Gaia"; can't believe this slipped on the final print and also a very weird clipping of songs across sides.
The album sounds great and it remains a classic 90s album. -
Edited 10 years agoYeah, if you were around then you have to have this, its a no brainer, pity that Kris Weston has had, and still has lots of problems relating to The Orb, since leaving though (just google Kris Weston DEP3, you will get a browser warning visiting the site but its fine). Glad he's focusing on new work and less (justified) ranting about the past, it'll be best for creativity.

This is a must have classic. This came at a time when a lot of people were appreciating Electronica for the first time (Nothing to do with drugs, honestly). The Orb take you on sonic journey that is some trip

The pointing is already all on "The White Room" by The KLF in that the musical areas should always be of ambient and spacious. And the follow-up project The Orb makes it all too true: "Little Fluffy Clouds" as a pretty Ambient House-piece with good beats and matching vocal samples makes the idea even more proud. Then there is no more track under 8 minutes and pretty much all consist mainly of endless sound and beat soup in the form of synth and sequencer sequences that were often blurred, house beats of Soul II Soul variety, vocal samples in echo plumes, nature sounds and rocket launches. Problem is that all this was anything but first new, not yet is particularly captivating, but rather plenty of boring, dragged, pulled and thought acts to irrelevant, and unfortunately anything but spacey or ambient effective-because there are better records. Stolen (even the fly by "Several Species ..." here comes back into favor) was in the Krautrockers the seventies and Pink Floyd.

As Tina Turner said... simply the best. I've been listening to this for 25 years and it still stands out as one of the best pieces of music... forget that it is electronic if you have a hang up about these things, this album rocks in many different ways. The Orb is not just for Christmas, it is a lifetime gift to be cherished. Bass to be blessed by amen.

This incredible album sparkles with creativity and is still one of the most beautifully executed electronic works of all time. Obscure factoid #572: In "Back Side of the Moon", the vocal sample "I'm 28 years old and I've been waiting for music like this all my life" was lifted from a radio interview the Sex Pistols did during their ill-fated US tour.

One of the first of 60 odd cd's i stole from HMV when i was a scraggly teen with no funds and a deep love for electronic music... and one of the best ones too! this is the most classic orb album, so lush and warm, slow without being boring, full of organic samples, humour like space invadors commenting on human lifeforms from their periscope, russian poetry!!!! if the orb had stayed this good for a number of years instead of seperating and pottering off somewhere, they would be as famous as aphex twin. well they were more famous at the time. ... In the end someone else stole it from me on holiday! my cousin was also not rich and abit of a street urchin! so the cycle goes on. in the end i got busted for stealing 2 albums drunk (tectonics and ltj bukem) and they raided my house but they ignored the stack of 60çds there!!! they were after other thigns :) ok... peace and babylon and ganawalamountain the orb
