Edited 2 months agoJust an FYI for buyers - it looks like many of the copies for sale here are actually the crappy made in Poland press:
https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/de/release/21551143-The-Cure-Disintegration
I ordered three times now but never received the MPO version since they share the same barcode and are outwardly nearly indistinguishable from each other except a "Made in Poland" printed on shrink on the back of the sleeve. Because this print is black on a black background, it is easy to overlook ;) -
Edited 4 years agoYou will find the same hype sticker on cover and same barcode on the 2010 release and the 2020 release. Money grabbing bastards.

I'm a 100% sure I have this MPO pressing, and I gotta said I'm quite disappointed. It's the only version of this record I own but if this is the good version I can't quite image how bad is GZ version (wait, I actually can). Anyways, it doesn't sound bad, it's heavily leaned towards the low ends and the bass can be quite overwhelming at times (which is fine) but my main issue is when volume is turned up to 50% plus an increasing distortion starts to ruin everything on the loud parts. Aside of that, the record was flat and silent with no surface noise. I'm going to try an OG version of this one to compare

Edited 5 years agoCan confirm - Purchased/literally just received my import copy through Amazon US (prod code B00318EDCY) = still MPO pressing.

Has anyone had any luck ordering a copy of this MPO pressing from an online retailer, either in the US or UK? If so, please post where you got it! Would like to upgrade from the GZ pressing. Thanks!

This pressing quality is immaculate! Very rare these days to hear a noise floor this silent.
As for the mastering, it is extremely bass-centric. My bass knob is flat, and I had to turn the treble on my amp waaaay up to almost 10 to get a nice top end to the music (which is rare.) But once that was done it sounded even & altogether fantastic! -
Edited 6 years agoAdd another comment that this MPO pressing is very good!
My only gripe is actually with the sleeve art; the contrast has clearly been pushed far too far, a lot of the detail evident on the original sleeve is largely turned to black. But in of the (digital) remaster and the pressing, no complaints :)
Perhaps for next year's 30th year anniversary we'll get a proper, all-analogue Abbey Road half-speed cut from the original tapes for our trouble, but that's wishlist stuff ;) -
Is there any way to differentiate this pressing vs. the GZ on sealed copies? In the US there's no way to know which edition you're ordering, and there are no open copies for sale anywhere. I don't want to get caught with another crappy GZ pressing of this album....

Edited 6 years agoHow are you able to differentiate this pressing with the 2010 one? Can't find it anywhere on the packaging what company pressed the copy I have (which should be the MPO one)
