Edited one year agoA different sounding mix from the originals
Its well done but seems way overboard dynamically ..the highs and lows are boosted quite a bit
When a song transitions from a quiet part to a full on part,, the difference is way too much as if the point was to make the mix hyper dynamic
..there is plenty definition ,,and some overall space has been added as well ..
It just leaves me trying to dial in my system during playback to suit the record ,,where i wish i could just let it rip and not be knocked back by the overdone dynamics on songs like -what is ...

Given the state that new vinyl comes in upon release nowadays, pressing faults, warps, filthy etc. The Jimmy Page remasters should be the bench mark for new release vinyl. A beautiful piece of wax, great quality control from the plant. Clean, no static. Rich full soundstage. Terrific pressing and a sonic treat.

Compared with a UK 1st press and several early re-pressings and reissues I own this sounds terrible, artificial, thin, over equalised, so bad I nearly stopped buying vinyl again. Having bought records since the 1960's I stopped in the 1990's when the quality of new pressings was so bad that I was returning every other purchase.

Very pleased with mine. Sounds great. I own this release on vinyl and cd. The cd sounds great as well, but the vinyl may sound a bit better. This vinyl sounds much better than an older cd version that I own. This remaster was top notch.

Edited 3 years agoI don't like very much this press. The sound is ok but it don't sound naturally. It is a little to forced on high and medim freqvency. The low freqvency is also a little amplifid but is ok.

In comparison with my 1991 Europe record (K 40 037) it sounds incredible. Especially the former dull sound is vanished. Great recommendation for the given price (18 Euros!!).

Edited 2 years agoThis Jimmy Page-remaster is a very respectable reissue in the $25 price range.
Drums are punchy and 3D. vocals slice right through the mix. You can tell they paid particular attention to polishing "You Need(Whole Lotta) Love", perhaps the strongest track on the record.
Elsewhere on the album, the rather hot overall signal exhibits harmonic distortion in bass content and kick drum. Attempts to achieve a "heavy" sound result in flabby/fartyness.
By contrast, clean ages are mostly crystal clear. -
Edited 4 years agoI don’t own the legendary RL cut, and can only compare it to the anaemic Japan 1976 pressing I own, but to me, this sounds pretty bloody good. I’ll get to own an RL one day, but until then, this is a great substitute. Another great pressing from Optimal, but I have noticed that all the LZ RE series have a lot of hairline scratches; though they do not affect playback, and surface noise is very low.
