I love this vinyl pressing. I bought my copy in the mid-1980s, new, from a local record store that occasionally stocked these dodgy-looking Portugese import LPs, and the Sterling mastering comes across beautifully. "Since You're Gone" jumps out of the speakers, with solid bass, tight cymbals on the drum kit and clear vocals. OK, the quality of the songwriting is not as consistent as the opening one-two salvo of "The Cars" and "Candy-O", and they would reach greater heights on 1984's "Heartbeat City", but this has some superb moments.

Photo disc, yes. The b-side is stamped, in color "KMET SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ROCKS" for the now defunct radio station with the same call sign.

Picked this up at the Lions Club for $0.50 got it home and gave it a Vinyl Vac pre clean (with Vac) and in the Ultrasonic for 20 minutes (Distilled Rinse and Vac Dry) and its dead quiet!! Great Pressing! 0 surface noise!

As others have said, this is a Fantastic sounding album. Mr. George Marino is one of the best mastering engineers. Anything he does is Choice. This pressing has it all, Detail, Dynamics, Sound stage, perfect mids and highs and a nice thumpy bass. This sounds Every bit as good as the Rhino HiFi Debut and Candy-O albums. I have them all and this Totally competes! I love this record. Even More than I thought I did. Spinning it as I write this. Mine is Mint condition so I’ve got Zero surface noise. As if unplayed. If you find one, Grab it!!

Very lovely sounding version of this classic! Compared to the og and the Okasek remaster it has a tamed upper mid and a perceived slightly fuller bottom. Its cut notably lower as well.

My copy plays flat and quietly (essential with the low volume) but once you dial this up the naturalness and dynamics shine through and by taming a little upper mids its just so SMOOOOOOOOOOTH!!! It may come down to tastes but this is it for me.

I would say the Mofi sounds the best of the versions ive heard then, just like with Candy O. They have a silky smoothness that the Cars recordings truly benefit from.

Absolutely superb pressing, easy 10/10! From exactly the same stampers or files as the previous red vinyl 2xLP remaster (as the runouts of my copies reveal) but just as darn good of course. The neon green may look just that bit funkier too! Like most Record Industry pressings we get nigh flat, correct thickness and silent vinyl even despite the colour! You will forget a record is even playing.

The sound is fresh, clean, harmoncially rewarding and a showcase for how modern remasters should be done.

3500 copies isnt alot, so go get one if you love this album like i do!

                  WOWSERS!

This is one helluva set and is close to perfection. Record Industry of MOV fame have pressed two normal, sane thickness red slices of wax with zero surface noise for starters... so confident i broke with my routine and tested it before washing and even out the printed inners this thing is CD-like of background! Not a big surprise for this plant tbf whose best work is amongst the best this game has ever known.

The Okasek remaster here is another knock out. The main LP sounds fresh, clean and harmonically satisfying. I can REALLY feel the harmonics at times and appreciation of the sound is high. Even with my leaner AT Microline this shines. With my richer olde Shure (of a similar age to the recording i might add) the beauty of this playback is complete!

The second disc is not entirely throwaway like many are. Some intersting stuff and of course the Im Not The One remix which is arguably the better version vs the original LP version. Its easy to.see why they left the less guitar focused tracks off the og though and the sound quality isnt quite as knock out as the first disc.

The gatefolds done to a good quality even if there is room to make it more i suppose. I cant really complain!

Yeah.... an easy 10/10 for this one seeing as id bought mine at retail at least. If you dont need the bonus disc check out the identical sounding and more recent Record Industry repress on neon green vinyl that Rhino did as part of the SYEOR series (same runouts!)

Incredible pressing. Great airy soundstage that has punch when needed. Generally, Roy Thomas Baker produced records sound a bit boxy to me (drums anyway). No such thing on this record. Sounds terrific! Do not hesitate to get a copy of this, it sounds as good as it gets.

The remastered edition of this particular Cars release really presents the music in an updated way. I've had this for over 40 years and can tell the "different - but not worse" mix presented now.

My copy keeps randomly jumping in volume during the verses on Cruiser. Is this a defect of this pressing or is it on the original recording too does anyone know? Have to agree with some people here too, this pressing is not very dynamic. Feels very subdued, hard to explain but basically no drive from it at all. Pity
