Roy Orbison – In Dreams

I have numerous copies of this album including the mono & stereo Classic Records. I love the mono version for a different perspective, but I believe this is the best version to hear this album. One reviewer mentioned that 'Blue Bayou' sounds worse than it should ? At least to my ears, this is the best version of Blue Bayou I have and that includes the version on Mobile Fidelity's All-Time Greatest Hits. My only complaint about this record is some background noise in places between tracks.

For the price, this record is an absolute winner. I get the tiniest bit of inner groove distortion on my copy, but overall I am very happy with this pressing.

They really put a lot of effort into making this record! It sounds perfect, with clear dynamics, the sounds are clean and clear, I personally liked it a lot!

Very nice full-bodied sound, great dynamics, deep bass, not brickwalled or messed around with - 5 stars. There is a repeating 'shucka-shucka' in between tracks all throughout the disc, but the music overpowers it.

I do have a question about tracking though: I don't get any distortion on any of the super-loud vocals (mostly at the ends of songs), but at around 1:30 (just after "All the time we're together"), the double-tracked "In Dreams, In Dreams" in the right channel sounds fuzzy/distorted. Is that just the pressing/mastering or is my original V15-II stylus mistracking?

Another beautiful Roy Orbison album, and perhaps the best from his Monument Records years. Both the sound and pressing quality are on par with audiophile records here, and perhaps a little better even than the 2LP ORG edition, which was a little hit and miss... Overall grade: 8.5/10

PS: this is the same review as for the Classic Records stereo release, since this mono is a fold-down and therefore very similar to the stereo pressing.

The Big O’s quavering operatic voice & melodramatic narratives of unrequited love & yearning are on full display here along with the trademark quasi-symphonic production & Roy's voice/guitar backed by surging strings, ominous drum rolls & heavenly backup vocalist choirs plus a few of his tough bluesy swaggers.
This is what influenced future generations of roots rockers.

Very nice sound, but unfortunately not super well pressed it seems. I have two of these ORG copies (with very different numbers), and neither is as faultless as I'd like a priced set like this to be. In fact, I'd say the 33 rpm mono and stereo versions from Classic Records, also mastered by Bernie Grundman, are a higher quality product, and save you from getting up every 7 or 8 minutes to flip the record again. Overall grade for this ORG pressing: 8.5/10

This is an amazing release - gorgeous mastering, silent vinyl.

I have the exact same record as this one but the back cover of the sleeve on mine is the opposite color of this one mines a white background and the big O is black what copy do I have ? and is it worth as much as this one? I can’t seem to find mine on here
