Weather Report – I Sing The Body Electric

This was one of my first jazz albums. It still looks very current and timeless. I listen to it more and more often than some later funk-oriented and listener-warmer albums of the band. Perhaps the inclusion of a live part of the group's work adds immediacy and energy. I like soundscapes that are on the border of distortion but in my press absolutely clear and controlled. I don't know if GZ could do it nowadays...? Sometimes I find myself listening to what I imagine is the ticking of a clock or a heart. The atmosphere of the first side corresponds very well with the second side of the record, which is live. At the same time, you can hear and feel the evolution of musicians towards jazz roots. Even some parts of the album were recorded as an improvisation for the first cut. A true beauty that will appeal to enthusiasts. In addition, with perfect sound.

Great way out fusion from 1972. and a Great cover and is nearly as good as the music.
One of the best early Fusion albums.

Meandering, free jazz fusion. Just so much wanking going on - does not hold my attention. Feels more like a zappa / mothers album that the tight and driving machine that is typical for most of Weather Report's catalog. Band feel out of control and almost amateurish at times.

Recording / pressing can get sibilant at times.

can not compare, but this pressing is not bad ! very nice room and stereo splits

This needs an audiophile reissue by the likes of Speaker's Corner, MFSL etc....

I found a cover of this pressing, where the man on the cover is plastic and affixed to the sleeve.

Bought this December 1972 National Record Mart because of the cover. WOW! all time favorite in my Jazz collection.
