Charles Mingus And His Jazz Groups* – Mingus Dynasty

HELP NEEDED: Seems like I have a variant not listed here. It is STILL SEALED so I can't even look at t he labels. On the front cover there is a BLACK / GOLDEN sticker with following text:

There is no "STEREO" on the top center of the fron cover with the red arrows on left/right to it. Even though I'd expect this actually has to be an stereo version. On top right we have boxed "COLUMBIA" logo with that "LP" in third box. No barcode or anything different from other versions on back cover. So obviously no of th 180g variants listed here such as DOL & Pure Pleasure Recors. Every hint appreciated to identify this variant. THANKS

I don’t have any other copy to compare but based on what I hear from this one, I am absolutely content with music, audio, pressing quality, all that! I consider this copy is my lucky find (perfect at first try) to save me all the trouble and expense to chase “perfect copy” like I have done with many other albums.

Excellent Canadian mono pressing. Plays clean with dynamic sound. Vinyl seems normal on my copy.

This is a damn fine sounding press. An overlooked gem in Mingus’s godlike discography.

I have a copy of this. Nothing to be aware of. The vinyl is fine. Normal vinyl.

Be careful of this Canadian Pressing! I ordered a Near Mint copy, and while the record looked just fine, there was a bit of surface noise. So, I decided to play it again a month later, and as I CAREFULLY removed the LP from it's inner sleeve, THE RECORD CRACKED RIGHT IN MY HANDS! I'm not sure what kind of vinyl was used, but my copy snapped and is now useless.

Good album, recorded just before Eric Dolphy ed Mingus' band and introduced his element of unpredictability. This re-issue has very reasonable sound quality, pretty good dynamic with good instrument separation, despite being mono.

Very quiet pressing with decent clarity. No issues with Side 1.

This is the record that made me dive into the world of vinyl. A girlfriend wanted to buy me an album for my birthday, and so diving through the jazz section, the owner asks who I really like and I say I have a lot of Miles and Coltrane albums, but not much Mingus. He grabbed this Pure Pleasure pressing and played it through his La Scala's. And that was it. Such a big sound, but in the slower ages it can sound so intimate. This music will warm you up on a cold winter night and help you celebrate a summer's day.

Fantastic and natural sound, airy soundstage. One of the best sounding Jazz records in my collection. Quiet pressing, recommended!
