Interesting to listen to these recordings - the musical style on these recordings is traditional blues rock and sounds more like The Rolling Stones than it sounds like the psychedelic Pink Floyd on The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Quite different from what you would expect a Pink Floyd record to sound like, but this is where it all started. And despite the demo-like nature of these recordings, sound quality is actually reasonably good.
This record is getting very expensive as times go by, and unfortunately there are lots of counterfeits being sold. But if you are paying attention and have some luck, it should still be possible to get the real thing for well under €100, at least if you're content with a VG+ copy. -
Be aware there are counterfeit copies sold as originals here. The fakes are sold under the median price and have matrix numbers of 0825646018611 A/B/C/D on the deadwax runout, same as on the label. The records are scuffed and the cover is poorly printed. Don't be fooled.

it is good to here these recordings, although the sounds were heavily influenced by the music of the day, you can see they were trying to break from the recorded norm. Almost pre Mothers with an easier approach maybe, meningitis must have been an issue back then :) The warmth of the vinyl suits the sound better, as mono as you can get. Now there are only 100 of the 2 bootleg versions each, over the 5000 official presses......

Edited 6 years agoI guess no-one is bothered about the CD format anymore, it is literally mp3 vs vinyl these days and i just don't understand why it's got this way.
wherever it is a brand new artist making songs or someone issuing songs recorded over half a century ago.
this needs a proper CD release, or even a lovely paper labelled cassette would do quite nicely. -

could someone please bootleg this to a nice cd in a jewel case? (not a cd-r). i have the cambridge station but it's in like a book or some shit. i'd love a stand alone of this that could rest on the shelf next to the rest of my pink floyd cds.

I really don't understand why they did not release more copies. I mean, it's all about the money so why wouldn't the label try to profit as much as possible? Instead, they are allowing the lucres who were lucky enough to get their hands on one to sell for these prices.

Even if these tracks are reissued as part of an 'Early Years' box set the prices of this are only going to go up and up right?
