Sound very good and not warped. There are slight "pops" on the first song on each side but nothing more. My disc was cleaned with an ultrasonic machine.

I got a clean copy and it slaps. Quiet press, nice art reproduction. Play at max volume when you’re depressed
-
This pressing is noisy, even after three stage wet vacuum cleaning. Mostly pops and lots of them...ugh. It seems like a crapshoot anymore with modern pressings... I have an original US copy with the matte sleeve, which sounds far more open and spacious than this, and even after 40 years, quieter! This pressing would be perfectly satisfying, though, if it wasn't so noisy. YMMV....
-
I mean the album is 5 stars but unlike others, the pressing is noisy. Lots of pops and clicks on side 2. Been the case on two record players so perhaps I just got a bad copy.

Edited 4 years agoFantastic pressing! Probably one of the best sounding modern record pressings at the $20-ish price point in my collection.
I don't have an original to compare this version to, but I agree with others that the overall listening experience is very immersive with a wide soundstage and a "you are there" feel to the mix/mastering. Yes, the drums stand out in particular - they do have a great decay/echo going on which lends to the realism (sadly, it's all too common that drums get buried in a mix - thankfully not the case here).
Absolutely buy this. An essential album on vinyl done right for a great price. -
Edited 3 years ago5 star sound for sure. I don't have an original to compare it to but my 2015 Unknown Pleasures does sound a bit different in of mixing and rawness when listening to it against my original. If anything I think all the characteristics of Closer are more pronounced here (especially the drums as mentioned below) without losing any of the erie vibes it has, it is definitely the best sounding media of it I have heard.
Edit: 06/13/2021
A few months back I acquired a US first pressing and I gotta say this remaster has the upper hand. Not only is this is a steal at $20, it sounds better than the original unlike my experience with Unknown Pleasures. This retains everything from the original without losing the vibe in the mix. Do yourself and your stereo a favor and grab it. -
Great pressing. No pops or clicks, very flat. Also the mastering does a great job of expanding the soundstage and instrument/vocal separation. Agreed with previous reviewer that the drums have an amazing depth and echo that I haven't heard on other versions. Recommended, especially at this price point.

I can't began to describe how good this LP sounds. The drums are unbelievable. Definitely a full and spacious sound, a great recording all around, very happy with this reissue. $20 brand new, this should be a no-brainer. Serious audio fans and ppl new to vinyl will appreciate the bang for your buck on this release.
