I had to listen to it a second time after reading all the posts here. Yes I agree a very cloudy sound. It is too bad because this music is so luxurious with all of its layers and complexity. This pressing smashes all that beauty into a single unpleasant sound lacking any depth and feeling

Edited 2 months agoMine has a lot of surface noise and is a little off-center. Kinda flat/muffled sounding to my ears.
-
Some surface noise audible between tracks on side B, but inaudible when music starts, even at low levels. Otherwise a nice pressing, not the most silent EVER but then it didn't cost $150.00. I feel no need to try the newer repress, I'm happy, though I do feel Rhino has raised its game in general since this time period.

1989 I'm eighteen. I get Disintegration on CD along with the other "free" discs from my umpteenth time ing BMG record club. Dubbed it onto cassette to listen in my car while driving and it became my soundtrack for the next year. Listening to this takes me right back to that time. Still one of my favorite albums of all time.
-
A little better than the original DMM US cut, but still low level and opaque. The Argentinian pressing still sounds better.

My 2 LP re-issue sounds fantastic. Gatefold is cool too. Nice re-press and great to have the “bonus tracks” on vinyl!

I was always looking for an original of this classic album and a lot of times when I'd mention this other people would mention how much better the 2lp version sounds compared to the original. I don't have a super high end system but it's an adequate system and I now own this 2010 pressing and an original 1989 canadian pressing and I have to say this pressing is really underwhelming to me compared to the original.
This is by no means a bad pressing and if its the only one you can get go for it. This pressing is much louder and has a lot more bass compared to the original and that goes without saying since this is spread out between 2 LPs and while some people might really like this I personally prefer the original pressing. I find the extra bass really muddles the instruments and vocals together and creates a muddy sound on some of the songs. The original has much better separation between the instruments and vocals and I much prefer that. Plus on my copy and some other copies the song "homesick" has a horrible static sound all throughout the track that honestly ruins the song for me a bit.
Overall I would try and find an original if you can but with that getting harder it might be better to pick up a 2019 or 2020 repress of this since I've heard they fixed the static on "homesick". But Honestly you can't go wrong with owning this album on any format so get whichever one you want and enjoy this amazing album -
Edited 2 years agoExcelent sounding pressing and amazing artwork. This is definitely one the best albums of my colection.

First of all goes without saying that this is one of the greatest albums and I have loved this since its release in 1989. In of this copy the sound is so huge and cavernous - maybe thats the way it's been mixed but I've had this a couple of years now but I'm struggling to find the right settings to avoid muddiness.

one of the best, most greatest albums of all time. there is absolutely no bad song they can put out. they are a legacy. the second i saw they had this at the record store i felt my eyes physically turn heart shaped and i knew i had to have it. found even more love for the cure i didn't know i had. truly a musical history moment
