Notes

Colour print picture sleeve manufactured using the same paper stock used for regular Parlophone company sleeves at the time (1967).
The first 250,000 copies were issued in this picture sleeve, which were a mixture of push-out centre and solid centre pressings.

K T embossed on centre label on one side (either A or AA) (U.K. purchase tax code used from 1963 until 1968)

Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, London:-
Side A: 24 Nov - 21 Dec 1966
Side AA: 29 Dec 1966 - 17 Jan 1967

A is an edit from two takes of the song (the occurs at 1 minute in) with the first section being keyboard, guitars and drums and the second section an alternate recording including brass, strings and backwards percussion.

EMI reissued this (along with every other U.K. 7" single by The Beatles released on Parlophone / Apple between 1962 and 1970) in 1976 in a green and white card sleeve using the same catalogue number.

[Track durations are approximate, and are not listed on this pressing]

My version of this has Matrix/Runouts 7XCE 18415 -1 GHA KT 0 and 7XCE 18416 RDP KT 7 . The former of which is the same as from the solid-centred version.

        Strawberry Fields Forever.
A name that turns every Beatles fans head. A song that indeed revolutionized the Musicindustry.

I can't say what hasn't already been said about this song, but I can give my Input on somethings that I like on this side of the Single.

The opening of the song is chraming and kinda nostalgic. The goosebumbps it gives me listening to the opening is always something i'll cherrish. Then you hear the wavy and strange Vocals from Lennon. Of course nothing of what you heard of him at that point. The strings, the vocalwork, the arrangement, the whole song is great. I also like the fake ending and then the pick up in the tempo.

Strawberry Fields Forever is a song that gives me nostalgia. Takes me back to a simpler time, where you could come back from school and look forward to a new episodes of your favorite cartoons and eat some of your favourite food.

A beautiful b side to an overall good single.
On this Single you can really see the friendly rivalry of Paul and John. Especialy on this song. John talking about his Childhood inspired Paul to make a song about his Childhood.

The opening song on this one is also very beutiful. The trumpets are nice and very well arrangement by George Martin and Pauls singing with a mix of Lennon is a very nice harmony. The song works perfect with headphones. It almost feels like you are going through the Town. You see the Nurse with the Poppies in her tray. You see the Fireman with his clean mashine.

On this single Johns and Pauls writing really shows. Since Rubber Soul, they've grown out of the Moptops they started as, but with this single starts a new era.

IMO we need a seperate contribution of the picture sleeve version, of course it sold nearly 200k copies but even more without the p/s and if you see the items in the marketplace 80% came without the sleeve and the most are not in good shape!
