When Paul's opening bass line punches you right in the chest, you know that mono is the way to hear this pressing. My G+ copy *should* be much noisier but my A-T 33 true mono cart truly tames the wear and unlocks an engaging mix imo.

Edited one month agoi’m not sure this album deserves all the hate it gets. sure, it has three songs chopped off (including possibly the best song on the album “i’m only sleeping”), but other than that, i feel that this album is a fine contender to the u.k. edition. it’s definitely not the definitive one (who are we kidding here?) but i wouldn’t mind listening to this one if i had to. i understand that there was a limit of songs capitol could/wanted to put on each album, and this is the best way it could have been done. packaging is buy-and-large the same as the u.k. original, and this is possibly my favorite capitol album because of it, just ahead of rubber soul. this reminds me of those old “capitol re-issue” cassettes like the steve miller band greatest hits, and the beach boys’ all summer long, where they’d chop off a few songs. maybe it’s just nostalgia though.

Similar to most US pressings, this one is missing 3 songs from the UK pressings: I'm Only Sleeping, Doctor Robert, And Your Bird Can Sing
