Edited 3 years agoThis just got reissued. Got my copy yesterday. About time it did. The pressing of the reissue btw is top notch.

Re-Issue of the soundtrack vinyl is apparently coming early January 2022. Rhino (label) has listings on several websites that offer pre-orders for a release on January 7th, 2022. Finally.

Funny how the RSD repress (that apparently - no surprise - sounds even worst than this one) is selling higer than the 1st press.
1st press which is quite probably even more limited in quantities. Since vinyl became a fashion thing and poor coloured versions are pressed to match outfits for instagram pics, a new, parallel market was born. Now we have the collectors market and the accumulators of expensive garbage one.

Odd reading about the displeasure with the sound in the reviews below. I just pulled my copy back out after not listening in a few years and it sounds totally fine. No noise to speak of and a pretty good mastering job. If anything it has a little too much high mids, but that is what I expected anyways since it has Kevin Shields songs on it. I felt myself wanting to bump the low end 1 notch higher on my power amp, but it sounded good otherwise.

My copy sounds fantastic and I'm feeling thankful to own this pressing. My friends Alex and Ben gifted it to me for my 23rd birthday. I am 28 now.

Edited 6 years agoThis is indeed not a very good pressing. I had the pleasure of speaking with the former head of Emperor Norton, who itted the release wasn’t up to their usual standard. They had been working on the soundtrack for some months, and unfortunately he happened to be traveling for work when this was finally pressed and tested - unbeknownst to him. It was pressed in the Czech Republic, and by the time he got back from his work trip, his colleagues had approved the pressing and ordered a full run without his expressed okay or permission.
He still regrets not having had the chance to quality control this release and told me it was an embarrassment for the label. Unfortunately he doesn’t think it will be reissued anytime soon, as the licensing for the songs was difficult to obtain and was only made possible because they were a small label with some friendly connections in the industry. It’s really a shame as this is such an expertly curated, seminal soundtrack.
EDIT: Spoke too soon. This is being reissued on violet colored vinyl for RSD 2019. Awesome news! -
i had the original pressing and from day 1 it had so much noises and a very bad mastering (like the jamie XX record for example), so after 2 years i decided to sell it, the sleeve prevented me from doing it earlier... ;)
