It sounds good! Nothing mind blowing or outstanding on my system. I use AT VM95ML so might be why some of the crash es may sound a bit bright. It’s dynamic enough but sounds a bit thin overall.
Record collection is an amazing hobby and objectively rating sound quality is so hard esp when the record listening experience depends on mood of the listener and any memories involved with the album. However, when I started this journey, sometimes recommendations from the vinyl community helped to discover/understand better mastering.
I see some comments here on how this is audiophile/MoFi level mastering/production. To my ears, it is quite far from that although it sounds great for a record that came out at the peak of loudness war.
American Idiot (RJ Sterling cut) sounds much better than this record and so does the Kevin Gray cut of Dookie.
Happy collecting!

this sounds so nice and clean, though I wish instead of it listing side a and side b on the label on the viynl, it would say say that side and this side
-
sounds great wish they'd have put the tracks on what side on the back instead, and maybe an A or B on the middle stamp on the vinyl. I actually listened to this first backwards because I was unaware that side A not the side with track listing.

This was a total Barnes and Noble impulse buy - saw it at the and I said why not. So glad I grabbed it! Awesome color and it sounds great. Underrated album!

Edited 3 months agoCrazy their most unsuccessful album is my favorite go figure. Love this album. This pressing clean as can be very quiet and don't know what it is have the OG CD and this seems better.
-
Pressing sounds good, but is anyone getting crazy sibilance on Castaway? Cant if it was there on the digital master or not, do not own the CD.
-
I had an older and rather lifeless pressing of this record on black vinyl, it didn't sound anywhere close to how nice this one does.
