Anyone else not get an insert talking about how these one steps are pressed? I got one of them with the Greetings From Asbury Park release and am curious if that insert comes with all new one step releases or just certain ones
-
These releases aren’t cheap of course they are great quality but am I the only one who thinks that maybe there should be a booklet with some information about the recordings and mastering etc ? I don’t think the two sided card showing the album sleeve cost much to produce did it ?
As to the record itself it sounds great on my system, put me down for Born to Run and Darkness, even though the Japanese pressings I have are superb. -
Edited one year agoDefinitely a good-sounding record; fans of this, perhaps Bruce's most fun album, will certainly want to pick it up. Those complaining about sibilance or other factors may be complaining about the quality of the original recording. It really wasn't produced that well - I reading Dave Marsh saying it's "muddy," and at this point in his career Bruce was a novice in the studio, probably happy just to get the record out - but on the other hand, this is probably as good as it can get. The guitars in particular, both acoustic and electric, benefit from this mastering.

Edited one year agoNot sure why there are negative reviews of this pressing, after cleaning the vinyl is DEAD silent, and the music jumps out at you, very lively mastering. I do get some sibilance here and there but I don't think it distracts from the music. Love it, and see myself playing this often!

Anyone getting a lot of vocal sibilance in this pressing? The instruments sound pristine but the vocals really distort. Really takes me out of it! I cleaned mine twice with an ultrasonic cleaner. I dunno if I just got a bad disc. Will likely pursue a replacement from MD.

Sounds fantastic like others said.
It was pretty dirty when I got it, which is annoying, but not the end of the world. Cleaned right up and plays great; no noise -
Mine was great, not noisy and a minimal level of dirty, which was easily brushed off. It sounds great and is clearly a top tier Springsteen album. Not cheap, but I imagine this will be the definitive version.

So having given this new MOFI a spin, what I can say is the sound quality is night and day against the vinyl. It really is stunning. BUT my copy has skips in a couple of places and yet there should be be no reason. Expect far better for the money.
