Relieved to see reviews I can agree with. Like hearing the album for the first time again. Details I’d never picked up on before. Some of the instruments sounding like they’re being played right in front of you. Those drums strikes from “Soldiers” just snapping right at my eardrums. Definitely best analog from vinyl to ear.

Wow, I've never heard The Visitors like this before.. absolutely quiet and incredibly balanced sound. I've heard sounds from instruments on this master that I've never heard or noticed until now. This is a totally new experience listening to it mastered this way.

Edited one year agoSounds better defined then og german pressing, however lacks flow.. the soul of the music is missing
Silly halfspeed master certificate supplied free of charge. -

You only need this new remaster and the og Japanese pressing (same masters were used internationally, so you get the benefit of quiet superior japanese vinyl) - the best copies of the album out there.

Edited one year agoAnother great remaster by Miles Showell & the Abbey Rd team. The original vinyl pressings of this album are all DMM cuts, as referenced by the Cutting Room Sweden in the deadwax. This meant all copies were a little shrill, with limited bass. This release is very warm, and the bottom-end has plenty of kick, without being bloated. ABBA took their production and songwriting to a whole other level on this album. While Super Trouoer was their commercial high-point, this album remains their creative peak. Hopefully the entire Abbey Rd series make it to the digital realm - everyone deserves to hear how fantastic ABBA can sound, when remastered right.

The definitive version of "The Visitors", easily ABBA's best album in my book, is the Deluxe CD version issues some years ago with some exclusive demo bonus tracks. But damn, this comes a close second. Like the 50th anniversary of "Ring Ring" issued in similar format (half-speed, two LPs at 45 rpm in gatefold sleeve) the audio quality on this is state of the art and absolutely superb. No surface noise, no crackles, just pure musical perfection. Highly recommended!

Edited one year agoJust some initial views as it spins for the first time: Disc 1 is a little off centre. But sounds good, very quiet vinyl which is nice. I can see scuff marks on side 2 and on the second disc as well, I assume these are from putting them into the card sleeves. The artwork reproduction is still a bit underwhelming, the cover image is a bit soft compared an original. The music is sounding great so far.
I found that the marks on side 3 came through in the music and spoilt it a bit. I’m listening to the 1981 UK OG now.
Due to the damage on the vinyl surface from clumsy sleeving, I’ve requested a replacement. Looking forward to playing it all over again, two for the price of one!
