Edited 3 years agoYes, you could call this a jazz super group. From NYC, four well-known jazz musicians, plus the
amazing pianist/composer Eliane Elias from Brazil.
As a kid, I went to see this band in '79, the same year this was recorded. I they played most of these songs at that show, material written by each of them. Of course then I had no idea I was witnessing Mike Brecker, Peter Erskine, Eliane, and the brilliant Eddie Gomez.
Have since become a Mike Brecker super fan and make a point of grabbing any of his band leader and sideman recordings I can find. This is as good as any, as an early Brecker stretches out and explores what would become his advanced harmonic style. His technique is uncanny, even at this age.
The recording is good, mixed very well and drum forward. Pressing good. Recommended.
