My copy is not from Walmart but has this cat.#/barcode sticker/Made in . It absolutely sounds phenomenal. I've experienced none of the distortion issues mentioned previously. It's worth ing that LZ2 was recorded over 55 years ago, so there's going to be sonic compromises. But this thing through my system (Nagaoka MP110/Hitachi PS-38/Sansui G7700/JBL L166 & 4301b) rumbles and barks with great definition and presence. All the charming warts are there too: tape hiss, amp buzz, weird phasing and panning. And my pressing plays faultlessly. I've never owned the vaunted "RL" , but given the 19 bucks I paid for this I'm okay with that.

Agreed on how over saturated this pressing/mastering is. It's really bad, it distorts on all the loud parts. This is not my pre-amp. It sounds like whatever late-stage gain was used during mastering was just way too hot for vinyl. The quiet parts sound great aside from some occasional sibilance in the vocals and cymbals (yes, my stylus is aligned properly). All-n-all, I would return this if I could.

Edited 2 years agoam revisiting the entire Led Zeppelin studio album series on CD and I can say that I think I was right in 1972. Music to me just does not get better than this, but let me give my opinion on the whole series and invite others to comment.
Led Zeppelin 1 reinvented the blues and was one of the best debut albums ever made.
Led Zeppelin 2 was even better and I just love this album and every song on it.
Led Zeppelin 3 was a surprise to me (not like the first two) and it takes repeated listens to appreciate how good it really is
Led Zeppelin 4 carries on from the second album and shows the band progressing, but still along the same path. I love this album.
Houses of the Holy sees the band trying out some new ideas and to me its better than the third album.
Physical Graffiti is the bands faultless masterpiece and its impossible to get those songs out of my head
Presence to me is the weakest of the series, but if this were released by any other band it would be considered to be very, very good.
In Through the Out Door will be delivered from Amazon soon, and I just can't wait to hear it. -

Edited 2 years agoSo... this cut is too loud. Honestly clips/distorts on many tracks. I bought all of the Zeppelin albums at Walmart the other day, for $15/ea. This is the only one I haven't thought so highly of.
