Edited one year agoI had the chance to compare this directly to the 1971 Monarch pressing. Between the two, this one sounded a bit veiled, not bad, but I had to turn the volume up a little. I didn't detect any "brightness" as other s have commented, but I run a very bright setup. In fact, I think the original pressing is a bit brighter.
This one seemed to lack a little detail compared to the original, mainly heard in the high-end and felt in the mid-range. It was minor, and not a deal-breaker, but should be noted.
To sum it up, this is a strong pressing form someone who isn't a maga-fan. I own an original pressing, but I'll probably listen to this one more. The old one needs some rest.
Sound chain: Clearaudio Concept (Virtuoso cartridge) -> Audio Technica TubeBox DS -> Schiit Jotunheim -> Sennheiser 660 headphones / Focal Aria speakers. -
Can confirm that this one has the bleed-through error on side 1, especially noticeable with the end of Rock And Roll.

Edited one year agoThe un-demo disc: this is the record you hide when you have friends over to check out the big deal about that vinyl sound. Lifeless, utterly lacking warmth, and riddled with compression artifacts, especially when Bonham hits the cymbals. Not bad for a casual listen, but starts to fall apart when played on a decent system.

This pressing compares very favorably to a 1970s repressing I have. It's a bright-sounding pressing, but my ears like bright pressings. A personal preference, your mileage may vary.

Edited 2 years agocant beat it for the $$$$ not a classic records pressing by any means but very decent press for the money You will need to adjust your bass up if possible because the bottom end is light but its not terrible i've heard worse usa porky pego first pressings!! Vinyl is dead quiet too so overall this is a steal for $23

My copy has a few moments of distortion on When the Levee Breaks…also the overall sound of the record seems pretty bright to me; had to turn up the bass and lower the treble. But overall I am satisfied with this record, especially at $15.

How does this sound compared to the 2014 release? Is it the same as the digital sourced they did then?
