Edited 3 years agoPerfectly fine Chicago blues. Not quite sure why, but T-Bone Walker has never moved me like other blues players from his era and locale. It feels very much like the blues you'd find at a lounge club or jazz club in the city during the late '50s. That's not a bad thing obviously, but T-Bone may have been blues at its most commercial. Again, that's not necessarily a criticism. I just find he trades in some of that rawness and yearning I love in Chicago blues, for palatability.
This reissue sounds fine, and not a bad way to go if this is the version you find out in the wild.
