A thoroughly enthralling listen. Yes, Roger Waters can be indulgent, isn't that what we want an artist to be?
This Canadian Pressing is incredibly punchy, great bass and quiet as all get out. Not to mention Tariff free.🇨🇦😎

Sound-wise, Animals is truly a prelude album to The Wall, which happened almost by fate as David Gilmour was preoccupied with the birth of his first child, and was content to let Roger Waters handle the majority of the writing. As such we get the first sounds of an album that is largely helmed by Waters- a sound and approach that would be greatly realized in their next album. Animals also feels like PF's first true concept album, with each song displaying an aspect of the overall album rather than a collection of similar, but ultimately disparate tracks. The theme is also engaging, though occasionally sophomoric. Ultimately, Animals will never be one of my favourite PF albums. There's no denying that Waters was an overindulgent artist during this time. He pulled it off best in The Wall, fairly well with Animals, and annoyingly egocentric with The Final Cut. Gods help me, but even with its quieter and louder moments throughout, Animals to me sounds "samey". The Wall has so much more variety (while remaining completely unified) and has a much deeper theme. All that being said, Animals is still a classic and important album in PF's discography.

Great album, great pressing. Never heard an English pressing but sold my US one the next day I bought Canadian. Thought, US was a great sounding copy.

Just a great sounding pressing and super quiet. Bass packs a ton of punch, especially during Pigs (Three different ones).
