I disagree with those negative comments here. This pressing does sound dynamic & punchy on my system. Especially the low-end is amazing. Plus it looks great on white wax. It's only inferior to my 1976 Japanese pressing which sounds a tad more "natural" & lively.

Got a white copy. Came with 2 inner sleeves. The disc was in a lined sleeve. The 2nd is just paper.
That's a first for me!
Album sounds great! -
The sound is horrible I also have the UK original and that also sounds like crap. Is there a good sounding release of this great album?

I was extremely disappointed with the mastering job here. This is so terribly over-compressed IMHO. No dynamic range whatsoever: all midrange with a low-end that is clearly boosted but muddled and inarticulate. The highs are so thin as to be rendered nonexistent. I highly recommend seeking out a 1976 pressing of this. For roughly the same price, you can get a 1976 RCA Victor pressing (APL1 1327, tan labels), which sounds ten times as alive as this version of the master. As for the pressing job itself, even the thin oil-crisis-era RCA wax is a step up from this pressing.

I must have been lucky as my white disc played flawlessly straight out of the sleeve . I know that’s a rarity these days and VCM is almost a necessity! The sound is punchy and clear , probably the best pressing I’ve heard. I have the RCA U.K. original and Sound + Vision 91 reissue.

Absolutely great pressing. Heard things l've never heard before in such clarity. Flat quiet vinyl, no skips or noises. Perfect.
-
As with the red vinyl version this skips. That's now two red copies and one white I've tried, all having to be returned as unplayable. So disappointing as it's a great album and the sound quality is otherwise great. Bad master plates I guess. Will try the next reissue - I'm sure there will be more to come

This is an absolutely fantastic pressing. I can hear the layers of instruments richly blend together as opposed to the murky jumble of all CD versions I have heard.
I got my copy near mint as I wanted to be sure I got the white. I prefer the colour and it seems to have slightly more positive review than the red on this forum.
