Reviews
-
The red color is rich and fabulous. The pressing is quiet, letting the subtle details come through nicely. Definitely beats my late 70's US re-issue for warmth and overall sound.
-
A quiet pressing with a lot of sonic atmosphere. Bowie had a great run of memorable songs from his mid 70's albums. Diamond Dogs, Rebel Rebel, and 1984 are no exception. Not bad for a series of songs that were inspired from books by William S. Burrows and George Orwell.
-
Just relistened to my copy - very impressed with the balanced, layered sound. I’m not sure what one reviewer meant by a “digital sheen”. I’ve heard a few 70s issues of this album and all of them were far worse.
-
Love this pressing, it's got warmth, bass, treble, grit, detail and everything is nicely balanced and placed sound stage wise. The vinyl is very quiet. Can't say i heard anything new in the mix except a bit more tonality of certain instruments or David's voice. In the mine field that is remixes and Bowie's early vinyl in general you can't go wrong with this, this is the one to get!
-
Very good pressing and great sound quality (the original mix is not the best of Bowie's albums, but the mastering and vinyl quality are excellent).
-
The red is lush and the gatefold cover truly iconic. Great mastering and pressing. Quite impressive Bowie did all the production and most of the rough-edged guitar on it which I like. Sweet Thing/Candidate the highlight for me.
-
Edited 7 months agoSuperb remastering and packaging - pressing is clean and flat. The current Bowie RM RE have been spot-on, and are your go-to pressings.
-
Sleeve is identical in every way to the 2017 vinyl reissue, except for the hype sticker of course, but also the overall quality of the sleeve on this red reissue has much more muted colours.
-
Great press in red vinyl, for me no problem at all. Not Bowie at his absolute best but pretty close. Some great tracks and a handful of fillers. Standout tracks - Diamond Dogs, Sweet Thing, Rebel Rebel, Rock and Roll with me.
-
Noisy vinyl. Lots of treble, high end like a reviewer mentioned, especially in comparison to an origial US RCA vinyl. I like a bit of high end so it doesn't bother me. Seems like adequate bass. Protective inner. Pressed flat. Overall I am glad i got this.
