Edited 3 years agoI'm listening to 'Marbles' and I really can't distinguish it from an earlier release called 'Krackpot'. I'm either getting two tracks confused here or they're the same track....hold on let me investigate....Well I checked and it would appear I am tripping... -
'Just because you love chocolate cake, you don't eat it every day'. I got to disagree, to my ears each of the numbers on display here are like high quality exotic confectioneries. I am amazed how Hawtin manages to use such minimal equipment to make such a diverse sound.

This is a great "after party" album which has a minimal gem in the track "Fuk", massive on a big sound system.

This outing ventures further out into melody and non-808, non-909 rhythms. Lasttrak is by far my dark horse here with a swingin' hip-hop beat and swervy 303 lines. What all the fuss was about Kriket is a mystery, because that's all it was: a cricket. Konception is suave as well. All in all, Hawtin injects more variety with tribal sounds, reverb, and reverse sounds in comparison to Sheet One and Recycled Plastik, using the 4/4 kick less often.
