Disappointed by how this was pressed and mastered. I ordered silent circus, Alaska, and colors all at once. Silent circus and colors had very badly seam rips along the top.
I've only listened to colors because I was curious and concerned how they split up the tracks. Sadly this works way better on cd or digital. I hate how the tracks just end abruptly. -
Edited 5 years agoI was a little scared to get this one based off comments, but it was the only one available to me when I purchased for a decent price so I went for it and my copy arrived in great condition. No damage, no off center holes, little to no noise, side D was fine. I don't have a high end setup at all so I can't really discern specifics, but I will say that it's one of the loudest and clearest sounding records I have.
My only gripe about this album is that the songs literally abruptly stop on one side and then abruptly start on the other sides. I thought maybe they could have arranged it especially for the records but I don't know what else they could have done since every song pretty much flows right into each other. I feel like there are better/quieter parts of each song from A to B/C to D where it could have been cut to make the transition seem less harsh. For example, at the end of Sun of Nothing and the beginning of Ants of the Sky, Tommy's vocals kick in and the vocals are split across both tracks which on cd and/or digital it's fine since it just flows. However, with there only being like a second or two of vocals on Sun of Nothing, it's just a harsh ending. I feel like they could have just cut Sun of Nothing off before the vocals started and just threw the vocals at the beginning of side C which is Ants. The way it plays out on record is you'll hear the vocals at the end of Nothing for literally a second and then stops. -
this is probably the worst "vinyl remaster" i've ever heard. I thought it was just my copy but this thing hisses and sounds crushed to shit. not just me. skip.

Edited 5 years agoSo I got this signed by all the band on their recent LatAm mini-tour, but I wasn't really excited to listen to this because of the negative comments. But this pressing didn't disappoint. The vinyl did have some minor scuffs but nothing too distracting, and the record itself is flat. Also, I didn't have any problems with the run-out grooves.
To my ears this remaster sounded slightly better than the original mix. I think the keyboards/synths sound more upfront, and also the "cantina" section in Ants of the Sky is mixed louder (which I didn't like), but I can't be really sure about that. I also had to adjust my sound settings because I felt the record was slightly bass-shy. The packaging feels cheap sadly, but overall I think if you are a fan of this record, you should get this. Play it loud! -
Anyone have a video of how the songs sound when playing all the way through? Meaning every song is basically mixed together. I guess you can hear where a song specifically starts and stops when listening digitally, but like Sun of Nothing and Ants of the Sky really follow one another and ANts is on a whole other lp.

I bought this on the Colors 10 year anniversary tour late August or early September 2017, and I'm only getting around to listening to it in its entirety now. The remaster generally sounds great but there is just something that is SUS AF going on with this press. Run in grooves are trash and it seems like the tracking is wobbly, even though there's nothing to be seen on the record to indicate that, noisy as shit at points too. Kinda sad to be honest, because you can find a bullshit press of The Silent Circus at hot topic that sounds better than this.

Off center pressing with lots of noise and generally just not very good sounding in general.
Oddest thing about it is every single side's run in groove doesnt work, the stylus just slips violently into the start of the tracks, sometimes skipping if it goes too fast! I have never seen that on any record before!
It's a real shame as I really love this album, but this level of quality control seems to be prevelant in a lot of new vinyl. -
Can anyone help me in explaining who I can if I think I have a bad pressing? I had a doubt because coma ecliptic sounded horrendous. However everyone seems to be pleased here with this copy. So I purchased the lp land the it's a complete shit show boys. The cymbals are mixed way too high so they cut through everything with an immense amount of static. The vocals tend to do the same when it's loud. The odd part is the quieter parts ("I'm floating towards the sun") sound amazing. Any help is appreciated thank you

I have no issues with this recording, it was pretty silent and the quality was great. Album itself is worth a listen and is a BTBM classic.

My copy of this very well might be the best sounding album in my collection. Extraordinary pressing.
