Notes

Issued in a gatefold sleeve with hype sticker on shrink wrap.

This is the first official vinyl release of unknown quantity. There is a secondary version following: Tool (2) - Lateralus
Both are nearly identical in packaging, except the first issue has a duller holographic sheen. The discs differ in the following manner:
The runout information is different. This edition does not have an etched "CB" signature.
The centre areas (where centre labels would normally be) have a "handmade" look to the markings where on the other edition they contain numerous concentric circles.

250-300 copies were hand-signed by all four band and sold through the band's website.

On the rear of the gatefold:

I honestly didn't want to believe it, but this record really is the worst pressing I've ever had. Only possibly interesting for collectors, you can't listen to this record. It's really outrageous to sell such poor quality.

To open a sealed purchase and on 1st listen thinking is this a joke? It sounded like an old dirty copy from someone’s party collection.
Totally unlistenable and won’t put on the platter again unfortunately as it’s a great album.
Opening 10,000 days was 100% the opposite reaction. Excellent recording.

As others have said here, a lot of surface noise, cracks and pops on this one, which is frustrating. The parts without surface noise sound amazing though, but generally seems like a bad pressing overall.

Picture vinyl so I give it a 4 by default. I bought mine brand new sealed and it came with skips and pops. Even asked my friends that have the same vinyl record and they said the same thing.

Heard this for the first time at a friend's house and thought it was fantastic. After adding it to my collection I can say it's the worst sounding vinyl in my fledgling collection. It's unlistenable. I discourage the purchase of this album. Music is 10/10. Pressing is hot garbage.

Sounds so bad... I hate picture discs like I hate mosquitos.
Sounds like a dirty record despite every reasonable attempt to clean.

I need a black or natural 180g remastered press like I need air.

Easily one of the worst sounding records I've bought. Going straight back. Can't being myself to keep it. Would rather listen to it on my echo dot and I'm not even kidding. Crackling throughout, so many pops and...just awful. Such a shame.

Bought mine in 2005 and it sounds great. Must have been lucky perhaps. They must have been trolling with the "limited edition" because it seemingly never runs out of stock.. lol
