After a Russian original pressing of the Stooges Fun House, I want this... I think I already own three or four legit pressings, but that cover makes it... really makes it...

Found this at a local record shop for $15 CAD. Discs are NM!

The recording/production is not as sleek/polished as their next album - Fresh. However, the record sounds dynamic, big and wide. Great soundstage, with touch of intended murkiness (most likely due to overdubs done during the recording process).

This is a super fun jam record! Happy to own the first pressing :)

Based on various sources regarding the source, this AAA pressing is extremely well mastered to vinyl (Ryan Smith delivers again). Lower and middle frequencies are clear, detailed, and hits square in my chest (quickly seals its reputation as a pillar of funk). I enjoy how clean even the lower-fi elements of the source present on this pressing. My copy is flat and very quiet.

This reissue sounds really good. Its very quiet, punch and dynamic. Huge soundstage. Considering it's very difficult to find a clean original copy, I think it's a pretty nice choice.

Ok I'm about to purchase one of these 2023 copies ... I have many rips of the ORG LP and CD and I'm not spending like 75 bucks on the ORG ... The OG same thing not gonna not because probably all the 1971 used copies probably sound like hell ... Then in 2007-2010 I bought because I didn't know about the red vinyl copy but the black copy by Sundazed mastered by Wes Garland before Kevin Gray name even hit the LP... And all he did with the Sundazed copy with LACQUERED it ... If that's the same thing as mastering I don't know ... But Sundazed probably had one chance and one chance only if that was the original tapes to master it and it wasn't Kevin Gray it was Wes Garland ... Who did a lot of work for Sundazed in 2001 .. I think he died I'm not sure ... But I have heard a lot of his work and it's like ok ... Which we come to Ryan Smith who is like the new guy on the block and works for Sterling Sound... And you have to be DAMN GODD a mastering engineer to work for Bernie Grundman ( Chris Bellman ) or Sterling Sound or Bob Ludwig who's sort of retired I think ???? Bernie has been around a long time also ... Kevin Gray also ... So Ryan Smith his name started appearing like he did The Cardigans catalog and now a lot of other stuff ... So I don't know if he mastered both the 2021 copy for Sony ( I mean there's nobody or a record plant even mentioned on the 2021 copy anywhere ... The 2023 WMP copy which I have a couple of presses of The Stooges with John Cale and the Dusty In Memphis Deluxe Edition... And I have heard other WMP copies ... And the fact that Ryan Smith got credit ... and probably was able to get the master tapes which are old ISN'T ALL THE GREAT STUFF .... One has no choice but to put Equalization on the tapes because they're ARE SO OLDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD .... And how many times were they baked no I don't mean baked as in DRUGS ... Everything these days is somewhat connected with drug use ... ( I it I tried my hand as using Pepsi Cola and it nearly killed me I was getting sicker everytime I do it and I'm talking pipes not rolled up bills ... Like Sly or Sammy ... Anyway I'm going with the 2023 copy which there's like 60 of them why so expensive it obviously didn't sell ....

I Love This CD, Smooth And Warm Sounding, Honestly Sounds Like A Flat Transfer Of The Master Tape.

This sounds excellent for what the recording is. No, it’s not an audiophile recording, but this is very satisfying. The only thing that really bothers me at times is sibilance on the vocals that only happens a few times. If RKS tried to EQ that out, you would probably lose a lot of clarity as well.
