The Beach Boys – Surfer Girl

After listening to this, my jaw is on the floor. Sounds cliché, but it’s the truth; it’s like listening to the LP for the first time.

Top notch mix, stereo separation too, well done. It’s got to be the definitive version right? Also as of April 2025, it’s still available, although expensive at acoustic sounds, but price will only go up.

Buy now or cry later.

Crystal clear pressing - great value! I wonder if the pressing sounds great given each side contains approx 10 mins of music...wider grooves? A bit shorter than original given omission of Little Deuce Coupe on side 1 and Our Car Club on side 2.

Heavy problems with sibilance on this release. Too bad since it would be a perfect pressing otherwise.

I love this record, but mainly know the stereo version, as that was the version I grew up listening to. I especially love the recent Analogue Production stereo remaster. However, I was lucky to find a mint copy of this pressing and am amazed how 3D and clear this mono version sounds. Strong bass and natural top end. You can really hear the room, and reverb chambers seem to take forever to decay. Highly recommended this pressing if you can find a clean copy.

My copy has a problem with s’s. Is this a common thing with this reissue?

Classy move from Acoustic Sounds who raised the price to 90$... (most probably because those very nice reissues are going to be deleted for quite some time)

Of all of the Beach Boys albums that I own, this may very well be the most vibrant and rich of the bunch. Every song sounds like the Boys are right in front of you. Mike's baritone voice has never sounded warmer, Brian's falsetto has never floated higher, and Carl, Dennis, Al and David sound as crisp as ever. While I don't own an original copy to compare it to, I'd be stunned if it was anywhere near the quality of this. Do not hesitate to grab one - Beach Boys fan or not. (You will be after spinning this one).

P.S. Sorry, Brian. Stereo is superior than mono for this record.

After picking up AP's mono reissues of Pet Sounds, Surfin' USA, Little Deuce Coupe and Shut Down Vol. 2, I knew this needed to be my next purchase. Thankfully, I found it at a great discount, and boy am I glad I did.

Just like the other mono AP Beach Boys pressings, this is probably the best the mono version of this album will ever sound. In My Room and Your Summer Dream especially shine here, the vocal harmonies washing over you like a waterfall shower on a hot summer's day. Definitely a must... Try to find a good deal as well (I think $70 is just a tad much for this given the length)

Has anyone noticed that on both the label and jacket track listing the song "Boogie Woodie" is spelled "Boogie Boogie". Any reason this is not mentioned? Should it be corrected in the track listing?
