Essential Logic – Beat Rhythm News - Waddle Ya Play ?

I am so happy that this album has been finally released on CD. Since 45 years this is a favorite album of mine because of the punky / jazzy feel of this album. And it still is, as the music does not sound dated at all ! As a bonus we get all of the singles on a bonus CD. So get this CD as it is recommended.

So hopefully we also get a CD version of Lora Logic - Pedigree Charm

Entirely agree with the other reviewers. I was aware of the band back when this was released but never picked this up. Just got a copy of this truly fantastic album. This pressing is also amazing - great sounding bass and spiky guitars and then of course there is that sax.

Low sound level and noisy vinyl, this is not a good reissue I'm afraid.

It's a vastly underrated album.

Hell, how many people have even heard of Essential Logic?

X-Ray Spex is a name everyone knows, but hardly anyone seems to care about Lora's band. This album is absolutely outstanding from start to finish.

There's obviously still a high level of Punk attitude in the songs, but the aggression is offset by highly accomplished musicianship. From the fast-paced drive of Quality Crayon Wax OK, the funky yet paranoid The Order Form, through to the absolute insanity of Alkaline Loaf In The Area (imagine a post-punk Gong), every track is a winner.

Wow. Not only are Essential Logic underrated, but they're also very influential.

Shocking that this album, and their outstanding subsequent singles, have never been reissued on vinyl.

The best thing about Essential Logic is the absolute madness of the band – starting with crazy music, continuing with insane saxophone and ending with mad vocals. “We’re in a room, it doesn’t matter where. I’m a cut off sort of girl, I’m a cut of sort of…” Tunes are intricate, rhythms are shifting, melodies are mutating and instrumentation is gorgeously lush. Beat Rhythm News is an art punk album.
