My review of this release: I am not reviewing the music itself other than it's a masterpiece from beginning to end, although the original production isn't that great. That being said, this version is not terrible. there is some surface noise during the quiet parts that remained after an ultrasonic cleaning, but I have albums from "legitimate" sources that sound much, much worse. My first thought is you can hear a slight hum just before the start of each track, not sure what that is. I do wonder if this is a copy of a copy, the master being another record? Just a thought. It is recorded on the quiet side, no extreme volume built in on this one. It is flat sounding, I don't think there is any remastering here at all. If anyone can add anything about the source, etc. please comment. I am curious to know more about this record.

"This CD was made from vinyl" What was the point of doing this cd from vinyl when shark records released vinyl and cd versions simultaneously ? You want to tell me they pressed the vinyl from some kind of master tape and then ripped vinyl to digital to produce cd instead of just digitalising master tape? Makes no sense. -
I like this album. Sound on this CD is close to perfect (for this record). One trouble is - CD-text. I don't want to see it on my display, but I can't remove it.

Did these Shark Records versions come with inserts? I have this and Morbid Visions, none of them have inserts, and been looking for them, but then it occurred to me, what if there never were any. Anybody have any info on this perhaps? -

so-bad-its good production + the most killer riffs imaginable. masterpiece -
I rate this record up there with "Reign in Blood" and "Master of Puppets." It doesn't have the single minded intensity of the former, nor the innovation of the latter. What Sepultura brings is thrash, thrash, thrash. Memorable tunes, excellent musicianship, it's all on point.
If there's one knock, and I it it's a big knock, it's the fact that this record sounds....not good. I believe the original masters were destroyed, so they remastered a two track copy. It doesn't really affect my rating because it's so good, but my god if this thing had been recorded with the kind of quality that "Reign in Blood" and "Master of Puppets" were recorded...It's my dream. No one would Anthrax. Sepultura would have taken their rightful place among the big 3.
Thrash? Then this record is indispensable. -
I'm curious about this pressing, I would like to know if they used a transfer from the original Cogumelo pressing or the Roadrunner remastered tapes from either 91' or 97' ?

TROOPS. OF. DOOM. iiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaeeggjhhhh. Best sound production I have ever heard. It’s thrash metal from Brazil predating Burzum’s first. Lol I think they influenced Varg Vikernes to become a worse rebel and a better non conformist! I have not a clue about this statement though. I’m just forming words and phrases.

I own 4 different copies of this album, the original LP release, the German Shark LP, the original US CD, remaster and the Japanese CD first edition. This version sounds just as good as any other. This album was recorded poorly and mastered poorly on most editions. The best sound out the box is the Japanese CD APCY-8039. Most versions of this album are muffled and dull. The Japanese release is bright and clear sounding. If you crank the treble on the US CD it sounds virtually the same however.
