Edited one month agoittedly I am not familiar with the original mix of this album but I picked this up on a whim and I am very impressed. Dynamics are intact and this is a really rocking album. Did not notice any pressing issues or noise (even before a cleaning). As mentioned by BlankaFlip the instruments sound alive, too. Recommended!

Very nice pressing: plays clean and quiet. Personally love this mix compared to the original. The instruments are way more “living”

I personally like the Albini versions better, but it's cool to have an album of the songs the way they were originally intended.

Edited 7 months agoThose who've heard the Los Fabulosos live bootleg will get what the Tweethan mix is going for. It's a much rawer, more immediate take on the tracks and is probably more directly reflective of what Slint sounded like in 1987. Albini states himself in the liner notes that he wanted to make his production on the album about who the band were rather than just their music, and I think that that's a noble goal and one he was successful at, but I can see why Ethan Buckler wanted something different.
Each mix reinforces the other - the Tweethan mix gives the listener greater insight into the structure and feeling of the songs, which in turn gives context and more focus to Albini's creative choices on the original version of the album. In other words, the Albini mix is arguably more holistic, whereas the Tweethan mix allows the songs to make their own marks individually.
Well worth buying not just for fans of the band but for fans of this side of rock music more generally. T&G have been knocking it out of the park with their pressings for a good while now and this is no exception; flat, silent, and with excellent dynamics. Gatefold cover and printed inner sleeves are also heavy and high quality. Cannot recommend this enough. -
The Tweethan mix rips. I never liked the Albini mix on the instruments. With the new mix, the drums are very clear, and the bass sounds much more full. There are drum parts I couldn't make out on the previous version that sound clear as day on the new mix.
I didn't realize that the additional sounds added throughout the record were Steve's idea, and that those would be removed. I liked hearing them hitting the music stand, the additional conversations and all that. Would have liked all of that to stay in the Tweethan remix. Maybe in another 35 years they'll make a happy medium mix.

I like the Tweethan mix of Warren aka Hippie Chick but the rest sounds like a nice demo tape.
Its all a top notch release and the remaster sounds as good as a Mofi or AP remaster. Its got great depth and very dynamic.
