Tremendously rich bass/low end. While I do enjoy the reissue recently done at Optimal, personally I think the sound here is like no other version I've heard. Worth tracking down a clean original.

Concur with earlier comments. Much better than the cd, more immersive with richer soundscape. Essential.

My expectations for mid- to late-nineties vinyl pressings are ittedly low but this record has far sured them. The VG+ copy I picked up at a record swap recently for CAN$20 sounds awesome—loads of bass and surprisingly noise-free.

Mindblowing masterpiece. This record invited me to follow the path of dub. Since then many other dub CD's and records follow from many other label, like Dubmission, On-U Sound, Mania Dub, Alpha & Omega Records, Blood & Fire, etc. . . . My advice, give this record a try. Turn up the volume up to 12, but beware of the bass ! ! ! - It may kill your Speakers. ;-)

Poor packaging but sounds superb. Have not listened to the new remaster yet to compare.

This is the first album I listening to as a kid. My dad had installed a soundsystem and after the sauna me and my sister sat right infront of the cd player, mystified. We stared at the cd cover for maybe a bit too long, for I it. This was when I was like four. My sister had just started school.

Very nostalgic for me. Good pressing.

Add this CD to your wants list and the next time you place an order with someone and see they are selling this just buy it. It's cheap as chips on cd and should be heard. Whether you like Massive Attack, Mad Professor, Dub, downtempo, the warmer sound of trip-hop, deep house, organic sounding electronic music you will benefit from giving this a listen. I put on it when I want something that is just warm and gentle in the background. I've fallen asleep to this whilst chilling on the sofa. That's not to say that it's boring, it isn't. It's just a very specific mood that floats and takes you away somewhere. It helps relax my mind and unwind me.
Mad Professor has taken the whole of MA's Protection album and remixed/re-produced it. All the elements are stretched out, the songs deconstructed and echoed out into a warm blanket of sound.
For the cost of a quid just buy it :-)

It's a 180 gram press. Came out together with 'Protection' and 'Blue Lines' (both 180 gram represses) at 02 Dec 2016. Problem solved but discogs could and should mention 180gram pressings. There are a lot that aren't mentioned..

My copy sadly had a pressing defect on the last minute on B2 - there is like a reticular / "hair" incision for about 5 x 20mm - looks very superficial, but it does affect playback w clicks and disturbances. Tried to clean it but absolutely nothing got better. Sadly I noticed this several months later, as I didn't play it immediately.
I don't get this lousy manufacturing procedures with so many brand new records these days. It never ever was like this in the good old days.
I just feel like throwing the record away.

                        Brilliant.
                        Mad Professor at his best.
                        Remix better than the original.
