Been revisiting this one a fair bit lately and overall I find it surprisingly scrappy and unfocused for such a widely-praised album. It veers from the sublime (Aftermath, Abbaon Fat Tracks - lush, cinematic, layered, and melodically appealing) to the ridiculous (Ponderosa with its wittering samples and irritatingly-pitched stabs of keys, or Brand New Retro with its tacky 90's TV jingle vibe). The Public Enemy 'cover' is perhaps one of the most egregious moments, if one were being unkind it could be described as a points-scoring/feather-ruffling exercise (at best).

If there was ever an album that's screaming for a reissue spread across two LPs, it's this one. It is just too expansive for a single record, like 25 minutes per side. The existing LP sounds OK (somehow), but just think how nice it'd be honor this with a double vinyl release. It would be so perfect.

A really great sounding pressing. Just gave mine a good clean and it sounds amazing start to finish.

One of my favourite ever albums. I just never get bored of it, and I've owned the vinyl from new in 1995. I really do believe this to be a masterpiece and a landmark album. Martina's voice is absolutely sublime against the gravelly spoken tones of Tricky's, and the boomy clattering and stuttering beats. Spell binding

As with many first albums, this is the one that I believe will never be sured. I dont get bored with it , it still moves me as it did 15-16 years ago. Still fresh to my ears. Bought the cd version back then and in the last few years I have been collecting the many 12"s issued from it and it sounds better than ever, even if not all songs are included in them.
Absolute classic.
