This is Dutch version of UK Direct Hits LP (1968) from 1969 - NOT 1969! On the back cover the Golden Earrings - On The Double LP is visible - released April 1969.

Hi, can someone please describe the stereo aspect of this album?

Given that 'I Can See For Miles' and 'Mary-Anne With The Shaky Hand' were the only tracks to have been released in stereo at that time, how did the remaining tracks fit with the stereo concept... were they processed into mock-stereo, or are they the mono mixes?

Have the Czechoslovakian pressing, too. Unfortunately vinyl terribly warped so it needs a pretty good turntable for proper playing.

this is an awesome super 200 gram audiophile edition from back in 2006 of the 1968 who uk only compilation direct hits, the purpose for this compilation lp in 1968 was the who had a lot of road work to do for a good part of 1968
becouse the SELL OUT LP was released at the end of 1967 & townshend was also while on & off the road writing the tommy opera, back in the 60s, 70s & 80s not putting out a new record or new product once a year was really not an option so there own label TRACK records came up with this idea of releasing a singles compilation lp, so here it is on 200 gram super audiophile vinyl, sounds awesome!! this was printed here in the us but the original uk lp was replicated very well regarding the sleeve & track label on the lp, amazing sounding edition of this lp..........

this is quite a rare nz pressing of this great 1968 singles compilation lp, this nz pressing has a unique sleeve to nz only regarding the large polydor logo on the front right top of the front sleeve, also the back of the lp is a flipback 60s sleeve and i got a copy of this in fantastic shape, these 60s original nz who lps do not turn up often, i got all the first 4 60s who lps ( now that i got this today) as nz pressings and none of them come easy, also i must add NICE LAMINATED FRONT SLEEVE the back is unlaminated and again unique to this nz pressing, have a look at the photo here on discogs...this was released once in nz 52 years ago in 1968..

there is a nut case on ebay in canada listing this best of german lp from 1968 for 699.99 CA dollers , he should take a look at (regardless of the fact that this did indeed come out 52 years ago) in they where pressed in mass production for both the german market and also pressed to export all over europe & the world in general, this may have got half a million units pressed, nice laminated german sleeve, i dont think this sounds anything like the uk direct hits lp from the same year, due to the mass pressing of this at that time in wich was very rare back then, i think that is why many copies never sounded this good, there is a better sounding copy of this and it is the reissue from the early 1980s that is also listed here on discogs, also regarding DIRECT HITS from the uk on track records, that to originally got a massive pressing as well but i think THIS GERMAN BEST OF got a lot more.
